New Beginnings

I wanted to post this for some time but I was waiting until everything was in place. My wife and I moved into a new house, my new studio is about 80% set up, and despite the damage that was done to my composing computer during shipping (which wrecked the motherboard and cpu) I was able to recover all the data, sound-sets, virtual instruments, Cubase Project files, sound sources and samples that make up my upcoming album “Fair Gemstone”. *Phew!* I now have a newer, faster machine to compose with (after 5 years it was definitely time for an upgrade anyways, these circumstances just helped it along). I had to re-install everything from the OS up, and then copy over my composing files and now, I am ready to roll. You know how long it’s been since I composed a song? 9 months. I left NY in May, stayed in California looking for work for about 3 months, met up with my wife out here in Arizona, and got a new job within a couple of weeks. Maybe I should have just moved out here from the beginning. We stayed with my in-laws for a few months  while the wife and I got back on our feet and as of 3 weeks ago we have left the in-laws and moved in to our new house. It’s a rental, but it’s ours.

The last 3 weeks have been about getting settled in and rebuilding my composing computer. All in all, 9 months since I’ve composed. That’s enough time for a human life to be conceived and brought into this world. A new beginning, if you will. Believe me when I tell you, the last 9 months have been filled with new beginnings for me as well. Where was I? Oh yeah, it’s been 9 months since I last composed–up until yesterday, that is. Originally this song was supposed to be a sound check just to make sure everything was working, but it took a life and meaning of it’s own.

This is the first song I composed since May of 2014. I’m in a new state, a new house, a new studio, and a new job. So many changes have happened, so many things I am grateful for. This song represents all the #NewBeginnings of my life. Enjoy!
