However, I do want to give you guys and girls a taste of the album, so here is Agnus Deus.
An enigmatic sound of Gregorian choir, lush strings, downtempo, an ethereal female soloist…a journey in and of itself. Play this track and just relaaaaax. From my upcoming new album.
Enjoy!

]]>This doesn’t mean that I have too much music for the album, it just means I’ll have more of a selection to choose from when I make the final track list (who knows, maybe it’ll be a double album? lol).
Talk soon,

]]>I’ve always liked world music / music from other cultures especially when incorporated into electronic and chill genres. For example, these artists have been on my playlist since the mid 90’s: Enigma, Deep Forest, Enya, Cusco, Massive Attack, Dead Can Dance, Cafe Del Mar and Adiemus just to list a few.
I was never able to pull off this kind of music as accurately as I would have wanted. Now in this day of technology, this has become much easier for me to accomplish. This is still a lot of work, but not as much of a burden (financially and physically) as it would have been back in the early 90’s when I was a budding composer. For example, I don’t have to fly all over the world with recording gear–we have the internet now.
The next album (still unnamed at this time) is going to be an ethereal journey of cultures, rhythms and voices in concert with tribal, ethnic and gregorian chants that will transcend a range of moods from chill out to invigoration. Release date: March-ish 2014
UPDATE: The album will be called “Fair Gemstone” and will have a TBA release date.

Spiritual Ambience strikes a fine balance of meditative and uplifting songs featuring electronic textures, flowing melodies and atmospheric undertones. Recorded between 2005 and 2007 as a concept album. Listen to while studying, reading, meditating etc.
Spiritual Ambience was a concept album I started in 2005 and stopped in 2007.
At the time I was in a church, and I was also in the church’s band. The music we did was, pretty much as expected. I was always a fan of music in the style of Enigma, Deep Forest, Delerium, and also new age (not like whale sounds kind of new age, but like what misinformed A&R reps labeled “new age”) music like Yanni, Enya, David Arkenstone and John Tesh.
So I thought to myself, what would it sound like if Enigma, Deep Forest, etc got together and made church music? So thats what I did.
However the concept for most was a little too hard to grasp. As I was told by one of the church music team members “In order for music to glorify God it has to have words saying so, otherwise the music is there but the message is not.”
My take on the matter was that this music wasn’t to be used as an evangelical tool to win others over to who you believe in. But on a more intimate level, when praying to who you believe in, as background music for the conversation.
It seemed the overall consensus was it was ok to have instrumental versions of songs (like amazing grace) but new instrumental songs unto God which never had vocal or written words was unheard of because it doesn’t carry the “message”. I’m sure God was not stumped by my concept (as this minister was) and appreciated my efforts.
Perhaps it was a little ahead of it’s time. So I didn’t push it. I never completed the album, what tracks I had done were done and what was unfinished was unfinished. There were 11 tracks in total, the 7 complete ones remain on this album.
I have been told by many college students that this album is great background music for studying. So use it as the background to whatever you wish, spiritual or not.
